10 BCL leaders held in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS)- Police today arrested 10 leaders and activists of different units of banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League Narsingdi district from Rupganj thana of Narayanganj. 

Police said they were arrested for their alleged involvement with terrorist activities.

The arrestees are- BCL Madhabdi thana unit president Mahbub Hossain Monir, 28, Shibpur upazila unit general secretary Md Fazayel Bhuiyan Royel, 25, Jinardi union unit president Tareque Akandh, 28, Polash upazila unit general secretary Ariful Islam Arif, 30, Polash Shilpanchal College unit president Jahid Hasan, 25, Belab upazila unit general secretary Towfiq Bhuiyan, 28, Polash Thana unit member Md Raju Mia, 31, Shibpur Thana member Md Farhad Afrad, 18, Manohardi Thana unit member Md  Jahid Molla, 24 and Polash Thana unit member Md Aminul Islam, 26.

All of them are accused of a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Narsingdi Police raided a house at Kanchan area of Rupgonj and arrested the BCL leaders and activists, police said.
