7 abducted workers rescued in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) - A team of joint force rescued seven abducted workers from the Lulaing area of Sarai Union under Lama Upazila in the district last night.

Among the workers, five have been identified as Md. Nuru, 50; Md. Alamgir, 35; Md. Shafi Alam, 32; Md. Helal, 40; and Md. Jamal, 32.

A team of joint force conducted a drive in the aforesaid area around 8:30 pm and rescued the workers, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Atiqur Rahman, in charge of the investigation center at the police outpost in Keyajupara, Sarai Union, Lama upazila.

The rescued workers have been handed over to their families.

Sarai UP Chairman Md. Idris stated that the seven workers are the residents of the Lohagara and Amirabad areas of Chittagong.

On Saturday night, terrorists kidnapped the seven workers from the Lulaing area of Lama Upazila. Since then, a joint team of police and army personnel had been conducting operations to rescue them.
