GOP threatens movement if mass murderers are not arrested immediately

RANGPUR, Feb 5, 2025 (BSS) – Leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) here today threatened to go on a tough movement if mass murderers in the July-August uprising are not arrested and tried immediately. 
 
They made the threat from a protest rally cum human chain and submission of a memorandum programme organized by the Rangpur district branch of GOP at Kachari Bazar area in the city on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
Earlier, a protest march was held from the Public Library ground under the leadership of senior member of the council Hanif Khan Sajib demanding the arrest and trial of the mass murderers. 
 
The procession went around the City Bazaar and ended at the Kachari Bazaar protest rally cum human chain programme. 
 
Senior member of GOP Hanif Khan Sajib, former District Acting Convener Sher-e-Khoda Asadullah, its Former Member-Secretary Ashiqur Rahman, District President of the Sramik Odhikar Parishad Ariful Islam, District General Secretary of the Jubo Odhikar Parishad Kamruzzaman spoke at the rally. 
 
District Representative of the Chatra Odhikkar Parishad Imran Kabir and its District Committee Member Haji Mohammad Jamal, among others, spoke on the occasion. 
 
Hanif Khan Sajib said, "Even after six months of the revolution, the government has not been able to arrest the mass murderers. 
 
“The trial has not been started so far. This is a farce with the July Revolution. If the demands are not met immediately, the students and people of the country will go on a tough movement," he cautioned.
 
Later, the GOP leaders submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding immediate arrest and trial of the murderers of the martyrs of the July-August uprising.
