3 illegal brick kilns fined in Sherpur

SHERPUR, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in a drive realised Taka 6 lakh as fine from the owners of three brick kilns for manufacturing bricks without approval of the Department of Environment and various other irregularities in Sadar upazila today.

The mobile court led by assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Asma Akhter conducted the drive in Ramkrishnapur, Yoginimura and West Jhinia areas of the upazila from this morning to afternoon and fined them Taka 6 lakh.

Later, the brick kilns have been demolished by the environment department and the district administration.

The district environment department inspector Sushil Kumar Das was present during the drive, assistant director of the department Md Nur Qutube Alam Siddique and other officials of the district administration and the environment department were present.

Assistant director Nur Qutube Alam said that such drive against illegal brick kilns will continue to prevent environmental pollution.
