Abductor held, victim of Lalmonirhat rescued from Munshiganj

RANGPUR, Feb 7, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an absconding abductor and rescued a kidnapped teenage girl of Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat from Adharitola Noyabari area of Munshiganj district on Thursday night.
 
"The arrested abductor is Md Samaul Islam, 20, son of Md Abul Kalam Azad of Bhotmari Sadarpara village in Kaliganj upazila," said a press release issued here by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Md Saifullah Nayeem today.
 
The arrested accused with his cohorts forcibly abducted the victim from a nearby road adjacent to Hazraniya Bazar of the upazila in the morning on July 30, 2024.
 
Later, the victim's father filed a case in this connection with Kaliganj Police Station of Lalmonirhat district. 
 
The incident created a sensation in the area and came to the notice of the Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 of Nilphamari Camp of RAB-13. 
 
Alongside the police, the CPC-2 enforced intelligence activities and started a shadow investigation into the case to nab the absconding accused abductor.
 
On a tip-off, an operational team of the CPC-2 jointly with the CPC-1 of RAB-11 at Narayanganj conducted a raid at Adharitola Noyabari area of Munshiganj district and arrested the accused of the case and rescued the victim at 7:45 pm on Thursday.
 
For taking further legal action against the arrested abductor, the elite force handed over the arrested abductor and rescued the victim to Kaliganj Police Station in Lalmonirhat district, the release added.
