CUMILLA, Feb 8, 2025 (BSS) - House construction materials and financial
assistance were distributed among flood-affected Ansar and members of Village
Defense Party (VDP) in Cumilla today.

Mahbubur Rahman, range commander of Ansar and VDP in Cumilla Range,
distributed the cash money and materials at a function held at Rammala Ansar
and VDP office in the district city as the chief guest.

District Commandant Md. Rasheduzzaman, District Circle Adjutant Md. Monirul
Islam and Cumilla Range Circle Adjutant Md. Tanzir Azad were present at the
event, among others.

House construction materials and cash money were distributed among 22
grassroots flood-affected Ansar and VDP members of different upazilas of the
district in the function.

In recent floods, numerous people have become homeless and are living in
inhuman conditions in various upazilas of Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali and
Lakshmipur districts under the Cumilla range. As part of the rehabilitation
programme, house construction materials are being distributed to 57 homeless
VDP members affected by the floods in the four districts to repair and
renovate their houses.

In addition, Aman paddy seedlings were distributed among 500 helpless people
and Ansar-VDP members whose seedbeds were damaged in the floods.

The chief guest said Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force is the
largest public-related discipline force in the country. The volunteer members
of the force are working in various fields in the post-flood rehabilitation
process.

Like in Cumilla district, house construction materials will be distributed to
the flood victims in other districts in phases, he added.
