Ex-BCL leader held over attack on anti-discrimination movement

 RANGPUR, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police has arrested Javed Ahmed, 30, former general secretary of the banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) Carmichael College unit in Rangpur city.
 
One Abu Sayeed, who was injured in the anti-discrimination student movement, has filed an attempt to murder case against Javed Ahmed.
 
He was arrested from the Medical Intersection area of Rangpur metropolis on Tuesday night.
 
Javed Ahmed is the son of Abdul Kader of Khamarpara area of Rangpur metropolis.
 
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Majid Ali told reporters tonight that Javed Ahmed was arrested based on secret information.

“A case of attempted murder has been filed against Javed Ahmed by a person named Abu Sayeed, who was shot in front of City Bazaar during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19.
 
“Detained Javed is being questioned at the police station. He directly attacked the movement with a weapon,” he added.
