July uprising martyrs, injured get financial aid in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - Lakshmipur district administration distributed donation cheques to the families of martyrs and injured in the July-August uprising. 

The financial aid of about Taka 20 lakh was distributed in two phases under the initiative of the district administration and the district social services department.

Of these, cheques of Taka 10,000 were distributed to each of 16 martyr families while cheques of Taka 5,000 were to each injured family.

The district administration distributed the cheques at a function held at the Sadar Upazila Parishad Hall room on Sunday evening.

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarker, the event was attended by Superintendent of Police Md. Akhter Hossain, Deputy Director of Local Government Department Jasim Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner JP Dewan and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Jamshed Alam Rana.

The district administration sources said 16 people were killed and 259 others injured in the July-August student-public uprising in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarker said the district administration is working to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
