Four to die in woman murder case in Habiganj

HABIGANJ, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced four persons to 
death for killing a woman in Nabiganj upazila of the district in 2014. 

Additional Sessions Judge AKM Kamal Uddin pronounced the verdict this 
afternoon, said the district Court Police Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Islam.

The death sentences were handed down to Al Amin, Chadar Ali, Taj Uddin and 
Mohiuddin Ahmed alias Sufi Mia. All convicts are absconding.

According to prosecution, on December 10, 2014, the hanging body of a woman 
was recovered from near the house of former Nabiganj Municipality 
Commissioner and Jubo League leader Mizanur Rahman.

After this incident, the deceased woman's brother Rajab Ali Fakir filed a 
murder case against Mizanur and 5 others.

Later, police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court.

Earlier, Chadar Ali and Taj Uddin gave confessional statements to the court. 

After examining 28 witnesses, the court found them guilty and handed down the 
verdict.
