42 shops gutted in Pirojpur fire

PIROJPUR, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) – At least 42 shops were gutted in two separate 
fire incidents at Sadar and Nesarabad upazila of the district last night and early 
this morning.

Eleven shops including grocery, jewellery and book shops were gutted in the fire 
that broke out at Panchpara Bazar in Sadar upazila around 11.15 pm. 

Besides, 31 different types of business establishments were burnt to ashes around 
6 am at Miarhat Bazar in Nesarabad upazila of the district.

The fire originated from an electrical short circuit at a shop and soon spread to the 
market.

Fire fighters of Nazirpur Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be known after an 
investigation, an official of fire station said.
