25 houses gutted in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 15, 2025 (BSS) – At least 25 dwelling houses were gutted in a fire in city’s CRB area here early today.

Abdur Razzak, deputy director of Agrabad Service and Civil Defense sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a house in the aforesaid area around 5.00 am and soon engulfed the neighboring houses.

Five firefighting units from different area in the city rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals at around 7 am.

Abdur Razzak said the extent of the damage and the causes of the fire are under investigation.  

Locals said many people were sleeping when the fire broke out in the morning. There were SSC candidates in the burnt house, their admit cards and books were burnt in the fire.
