NETROKONA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was killed and another injured after being struck by a thunderstorm while harvesting paddy in Khaliajuri Haor area here in the district this afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Nijam Uddin, 32, son of Sombor Mia from Rasulpur village.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred as a group of farmers was returning home after a day of harvesting. A sudden thunderstorm struck the area, fatally injuring Nijam Uddin and injuring another farmer, Ranu Mia, 45.

Both were rushed to the Khaliajuri Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Nijam Uddin dead upon arrival.

Khaliajuri Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Mokbul Hossen confirmed the incident.
