10 AL leaders sent to jail in July uprising case in Rajbari

RAJBARI, April 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here today ordered to send 10 leaders of Awami League (AL) in connection with a case filed over last year’s July-August uprising.

The AL leaders today surrendered to the court of Judicial Magistrate Md Tamjid Ahmed following an instruction from the High Court and sought bail. The magistrate after hearing the arguments of both the sides, ordered to send them to jail rejecting their bail petitions. 

The prominent AL leaders who surrendered to the court are Abdur Rab, Chairman of Chandani union under sadar upazil and also the general secretary of union Awami League, Azam Ali Mondal, former panel chairman of Rajbari Zila Parishad and vice president of Mizanpur union AL, Firoz Biswas, assistant general secretary of Mizanpur union AL, Ringku and Manik Sardar.

Lawyer of the prosecution side advocate Shafiqul Islam said that a student Rajib Molla, filed a case against over 300 people mentioning the names of 170 people including the former member of parliament from Rajbari-1 constituency Kazi Keramot Ali on August 30 last year. Ten accused of the case obtained bail from a High Court bench and today appeared before the lower court following the High Court directive.

Advocate Abdur Razzak, Public Prosecutor of Rajbari District and Sessions Judge Court told BSS that the court passed the order rejecting their bail petitions.
