235 kgs of banned polythene seized in Sherpur

SHERPUR, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - Department of Environment (DoE) here in the district today seized 235 Kilograms (kgs) of banned polythene.

The operation was carried out around 2pm in collaboration with the Jhenaigati Upazila Administration.

During the drive, a mobile court led by Jhenaigati Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ashraful Alam Russell fined the owner of Farid Store, Md. Farid Mia, TK 5,000 for selling the prohibited material.

DoE Inspector Sushil Kumar Das of Sherpur district office was also present during the drive .

According to mobile court sources, Farid Store had been illegally selling banned polythene in the Jhenaigati Upazila Market, violating government rules.
