One held with 35kg venison in Barguna

BARGUNA, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - Law enforcement personnel detained an alleged smuggler along with 35 kilograms of venison during a joint drive by police and coast guard in Pathorghata upazila of the district.

The arrestee was identified as Rezaul Islam, 25, son of Md Khalilur Rahman of Pathorghata upazila.

Coast guard media officer HM Harun-Or Rashid said at a press conference this morning that members of Pathorghata police station and the coast guard jointly conducted raids at different places across the district and detained Rezaul from the Soptogram area with the venison on Tuesday night.

"The detained individual, along with the seized venison, was handed over to the forest department," he said, adding that a case has been filed against the accused with Pathorghata police station.

Such types of drive will continue in order to maintain law and order situation, he added.
