Escaped accused held in Rajshahi- Photo : BSS

RAJSHAHI, April 18, 2025 (BSS)- A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of  Rajshahi Metropolitan Police here last night arrested a convicted accused who fled away from a local court premises.  
 
The arrestee is identified as Muhammad Arif, 25, son of Zakir Hossain of Fudkipara Khirshin area under Shah Makhdum Police Station in the city, Police sources said.

He was convicted in a drug case and managed to escape from the premises of Metropolitan Magistrate court-2 with handcuffs on Thursday afternoon.  
 

Sabina Yeasmin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), told BSS that Arif fled away when he was produced before the court.

A team of the DB police conducted a raid at Khirshin area and arrested Arif at around 11:30 pm.

She also added a case was recorded with Shah Makhdum Police Station in this connection and the arrested person was sent to jail through the court today.
