Youth dies from snakebite in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - A youth died from snakebite at Garapota village under Maheshpur upazila of the district this morning.


The youth was identified as Shahriar Rahman, 22, son of Aminur Rahman of the village.


Family sources said a poisonous snake bit Shahriar when he was returning home at night after fishing in Mathabhanga Beel near the village with some friends.


He was first taken to a local Ojha (Folk healer). When his condition deteriorated, Shahriar was taken to Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex this morning, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.


Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) of Maheshpur Police Station Sajjadur Rahman, confirmed the incident.
