Mason's body recovered from pond in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - Police today recovered the body of a mason from a pond at Babuganj village in Chitalmari upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Sumanta Biswas, 45, son of late Satish Chandra Biswas of the same area. He lived in a rented house near the LGED intersection in ward-3 of Bagerhat municipality.

According to police and local sources, Sumanta went to work in the Badekarapara area of Bagerhat Sadar on Monday but did not return after leaving for lunch around noon. Family members searched for him throughout the day but failed to trace him.

Locals spotted a body in a pond this morning and informed the police. Upon being informed, Police recovered the body of the deceased. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagerhat Model Police Station Md Mahmud-ul-Hasan said the body was sent to the Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital morgue for autopsy. "The actual cause of death will be determined after receiving the post-mortem report," he added.
