2 restaurants fined for selling expired food in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined two restaurant owners a total of Taka 13,000 in district sadar for storing and selling old and expired food.

The restaurants are Abrar Restaurant and Orange Cafe.

Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Director of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection in the district, imposed the fine during a market surveillance drive at Hilsa Chattar area. 

An official said that the owner of Abrar Restaurant was fined Tk 10,000 for preparing food in a dirty and unhygienic environment and storing old meat and kebabs for sale.

The owner of Orange Cafe was fined Tk 3,000 for storing expired bread for sale, he added.

Law enforcement personnel were present during the drive.
