Bodies of husband, wife recovered from separate locations in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - Police have recovered the bodies of a husband and wife from separate locations in Narsingdi, the wife’s body from their home, and the husband’s from a building ledge nearby.

The incident took place late Friday night and Saturday afternoon in Balusair village of Sadar Upazila. The body of the wife was recovered from their residence, while the husband’s body was found hanging from the ledge of a three-storey building in Baburhat.

The deceased couple has been identified as Raju Mia (42) and his wife Mansura Begum (38), residents of Balusair village and parents of three children.

The information was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Sujan Chandra Sarkar of Narsingdi.

According to police and the victims’ relatives, around 8:30 PM on Friday night, family members and children broke into the locked bedroom and found Mansura's body lying on the bed with a scarf wrapped around her neck. Police were informed and later recovered the body. Police send the body to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Following her death, her husband Raju Mia remained missing.

The next morning, locals spotted a man hanging by a rope from the ledge of a three-storey building in Baburhat and informed the police. With assistance from the Fire Service, the body was retrieved around noon and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. The body was later identified by the family as that of Raju Mia.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sujan Chandra Sarkar said that the husband was a drug addict, and the couple had frequent disputes over the matter.

Police suspects that following a domestic dispute, Raju Mia killed his wife and later took his own life. The bodies have been sent for autopsy, and legal procedures are underway.
