Fugitive convict arrested in Savar

DHAKA, April 27, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police has apprehended a fugitive convict in a drug-related case from Hemayetpur in Dhaka district.

The arrested individual has been identified as Md Enamul Huq, 48, son of Chhurhab Ali, hailing from Mirdangi village under Ranishangkeil Thana in Thakurgaon district, according to an ATU press release issued today.

On February 11, 2019, the District and Sessions Judge Court in Thakurgaon sentenced Enamul Huq to life imprisonment along with a fine of Taka 20,000. In default of payment, he was to serve an additional six months in prison.

An ATU team from the Rangpur divisional office carried out the operation and arrested him from the Hemayetpur area under Savar Thana.

Legal proceedings against him are currently in progress.
