Lightning strike kills two in Netrokona, Sunamganj

DHAKA, April 28, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including a minor boy were killed in separate lightning strikes in Netrokona and Sunamganj districts early today.

The deceased were identified as Arafat, 10, son of Abdus Salam of Tiyashree union of Madan upazila in Netrokona district and Rimon Talukder, 20, son of Jahed Talukdar of Atgaon village in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district.


According to local Union Parishad member Motahar Hossain, Arafat was struck by lightning around 6:30 am while on his way to his madrasah in Tiyashree union.

Shalla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shafiqul Islam said Rimon was herding cows near Kalikota Haor close to his village when he was struck by lightning during light drizzle around 6.30am.
