Fugitive convict held in Dhaka

RANGPUR, April 28, 2025 (BSS) - A joint team of RAB-13 and RAB-1 arrested a fugitive sentenced to 10 years in prison in an Arms Act case from Kafrul police station area of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday evening. 

The arrestee was identified as Md. Asaduzzaman Asad, 35, son of Md. Atiur Rahman of Noyapara village under Pirgachha police station in Rangpur district, said a press release this afternoon. 
 
The accused Asaduzzaman Asad had been running an illegal arms business in the Bhatara police station area under DMP and his own area in Rangpur district for a long time. 
 
A case was filed against Md. Asaduzzaman at Bhatara Police Station of DMP under Section 19 (a) of the Arms Act-1878. 
 
Following a trial in his absence, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, prompting the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.
  
The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings, the release said.
