RANGPUR, April 28, 2025 (BSS) - The National Legal Aid Day-2025 was
celebrated in Rangpur, calling for lawyers included in the legal aid panel to
ensure free legal aid for victims of injustice, the poor and the deprived.
The Rangpur District Legal Aid Committee organized a colorful rally followed
by a discussion at the Rangpur District Judge's Court premises on Monday
marking the day.
Chairman of the Rangpur District Legal Aid Committee and Senior District and
Sessions Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir presided over the program.
In his speech, the Senior District and Sessions Judge said that there is
wisdom in compromise and settlement. Every judge should play a responsible
role in personal, social and family matters with a friendly mentality.
"Work is the identity of a person, so it is important to maintain honesty and
integrity at work. We should perform our duties honestly and be compassionate
towards the victims of injustice," he said.
Regarding the promotion of Legal Aid activities, he said that social media
should play an effective role in raising public awareness among the indigent
people of the society.
"The government has launched this service not only for the poor but also for
the indigent people. For this, all concerned should be diligent in fulfilling
their duties and responsibilities," he said.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Mashiur Rahman, Additional Divisional
Commissioner Md Ashraful Islam, Cyber Tribunal Judge Dr Md Abdul Majid, Judge
of Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Mostafa Kamal, Rangpur
District Legal Aid Officer Talma Prodhan, Rangpur Chief Judicial Magistrate
Talib Hossain, President of Rangpur District Bar Association Shahed Kamal
Ibne Khatib, Best Panel Lawyer Md. Matiar Rahman, addressed the event as
special guests.
At the event, legal aid beneficiaries Fatema Khatun and Hafizul Islam Bhola
shared their experiences of receiving assistance from the Legal Aid Office of
Rangpur district.
Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out from the Rangpur District Judge
Court premises in the morning and circled the main roads of the city before
ending at the same place.
Judges of Rangpur District and Sessions Judge Courts, government officials,
beneficiaries and journalists were present at the event.
