KUSHTIA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was tragically killed by a lightning strike at Sultan village under Kaya union of Kumarkhali upazila of the district today.
The deceased was Zahurul Islam, 50, son of late Shayan Uddin of the same village.
Md. Solaiman Sheikh, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumarkhali Police Station, confirmed the incident.
The incident occurred when Zahurul was attempting to cover his harvested paddy with polythene to shield it from an impending rainstorm at noon. A sudden bolt of lightning struck him, killing him on the spot.
