Police rescue SSC examinee 3 hours after abduction in gobindaganj

GAIBANDHA, APRIL 30, (BSS) - Police, in a drive yesterday afternoon, rescued an SSC examinee three hours after she was abducted in Gobindaganj upazila of the district. 

The victim was identified as Mashruba Akhter Meem, daughter of Meherul Islam, a resident of Beparipara village under Kamardaha union of the upazila. 

Family sources said Mashruba Akhter Meem returned home at 2:00pm after attending SSC exam at Gobindaganj Govt. High School Centre of the upazila town. 

Shortly after coming home, a group of youths armed with locally made sharp weapons attacked Meem's house and vandalized the household furniture. They vandalized household furniture and assaulted Meem's parents when they tried to resist the attackers. At one stage, the miscreants abducted Meem and fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Upon receiving the information, Gobindaganj Thana police launched an operation and rescued Meem from a house belonging to one Chand Miah in Felupara village, about three hours after the incident.

Police also detained the prime accused, Sanjoy, during the drive and seized the motorcycle used in the abduction.

Earlier, Sanjoy, son of Rafi Miah from Moghaltuli village in the same upazila, had reportedly been harassing Meem on her way to and from school. 

Gobindaganj Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bulbul Islam confirmed the incident.
