Man hacked to death in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A man was allegedly hacked to death by a rival group at Dighirpar village in Sadar upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 55, son of Shamsher Mollah of the same village.

Six other members of his family were also injured in the incident.

According to locals and police, there had been a long-standing dispute between two groups in the village. A clash erupted on Tuesday over establishing supremacy in the area.

Following the clash, members of the rival group entered the house of Mosharraf Hossain this morning and attacked him and six others of his family with sharp weapons.

The injured were taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where Mosharraf succumbed to his injuries.

Jhenaidah Additional Superintendent of Police Imran Zakaria said the murder occurred due to a social conflict. Police have been deployed in the area, and a drive is underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
