NARAIL, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a youth to life-
term imprisonment in the rape and murder case of a minor child in Sadar 
upazila here in 2019.

District and Sessions Judge Sharmin Nigar announced the verdict this 
afternoon.

The court also fined convict Hridoy Bairagi, 23, son of Dilip Bairagi of 
Birgram in Sadar upazila, Taka 10,000 in default, to suffer six months more 
in prison, said Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court Advocate SM Abdul Haque.

According to prosecution, convicts Hridoy raped and killed his cousin Hritika 
Bairagi when she went to play her uncle's house on December 28, 2019. 

Later on December 29, the next day of the incident, local people found her 
body near a pond.

A case was filed with Narail Sadar Police Station on December 30.

After the investigation, the police accused Hridoy Bairagi and submitted a 
charge sheet to the court. 

The judge after examining the witnesses and evidence gave the punishment.
