JASHORE, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a man wanted in 33 criminal cases during a raid at the Kharki College Gate area of Jashore town today.

The arrestee, identified as Kazi Tarek alias Tariqul Islam, 52, son of Jalal Uddin from Krishnabati village in Sadar upazila.

Additional Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui said that the DB team conducted the operation around 11:30am and successfully apprehended Tarek.

Police sources said Tarek is named in a total of 33 cases, including one for murder, one for arms possession, two related to explosives, 19 for drug-related offenses and six for smuggling.
 
Additionally, arrest warrants have been issued against him in 15 of these cases.

Tarek has long been involved in leading various criminal gangs, especially those engaged in arms and drug trafficking.
