Smuggled goods worth Tk 2.5 cr seized in Sylhet

SYLHET, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized Indian smuggled goods worth about Taka 2.5 crore in Sylhet.

The goods were seized during a drive in various border areas of the district in the early hours of Wednesday, a press release of the BGB Sylhet Battalion said.

On a tip-off, a joint operation team conducted a drive in the border areas of Pratappur, Noakot, Sangram, DB Haor BOP and Sreepur border areas of Jaintapur upazila in Sylhet district and seized the smuggled goods, the release said.

During the drive the team seized a large quantity of Indian lehenga, Skinshine cream, Gomela cream, Clopgi cream, Nivea soft cream, Veet hair removal cream, sunglasses, cumin, sugar, fuchka, betel nut, three pieces, frog, children's angel, lungi, veil, buffalo, chocolate, soap, eyeball candy, basmati rice, biscuits and liquor.

The market value of the seized goods is Taka 2 crore 55 lakh 69 thousand 595.
