Husband gets life term for killing wife in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - A court here sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in Gopaldi village under Madhukhali upazila of the district in 2018.

The court also fined convict Nur Alam alias Humayun, 34, Taka one lakh, in default, to suffer three more years in jail.

District and Sessions Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Shamima Parveen pronounced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon in presence of Nur Alam, said Advocate Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Ratan, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court.
 
According to prosecution, on October 23, 2018, convict Nur Alam strangled his wife to death for dowry.

Qutub Uddin Molla, father of the deceased, filed a case in this regard with Madhukhali Police Station on October 25, 2018.

Later, police arrested the killer husband.

The judge after examining witnesses and evidence, found the convict guilty and handed down the punishment.
