FARIDPUR, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - An unauthorized factory in the Andharkotha area of Boalmari municipality here was fined Tk 50,000 on Friday evening for producing adulterated baby foods.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Golam Rabbani Sohel imposed the fine on the owner of the factory, Zahidul Islam, under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.

The factory, located in a house on Al Hasan Mohila Madrasa Road, was sealed.

A large quantity of fake baby food was recovered, seized, and later destroyed at the land office.

According to police, the unlicensed facility, operating under the name 'Abdullah Food' with a fake Dhaka address, was producing children's food items such as Drinko juice, ice lollies, and tamarind chutney using saccharin, condensed sugar, flavorings, and water-without any government or BSTI approval.

"These adulterated products are extremely harmful to health, especially for children," said Magistrate Sohel.
