One held with gold bars worth Tk 87 lakh in Jashore

JASHORE, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man with five gold bars worth Taka 87 lakh from Jhumjhumpur area of the district town early this morning.

The arrestee was identified as Moynal Mollah, 35, a resident of Mirpur area in ??Dhaka.

On a tip-off, a special team of BGB-49 Battalion conducted a drive in the area and arrested Moynal and recovered the gold bars hidden inside his shoes, said BGB-49 commander Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui.

The estimated value of the gold bars weighing 585.54 grams is about Taka 87 lakh.

During interrogation, he told the BGB that he was going to Satkhira border via Jashore, where he planned to smuggle the gold bars into India after collecting them from a smuggler in Dhaka's Gabtoli area.
