2 killed in Rangpur road crash

RANGPUR, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) – Two persons were killed in a tragic road accident in front of Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station in the city this afternoon.

The victims were identified as Tanima Akhter Panna, 17, a HSC examinee and Asadul Islam Asad, 40. Panna is the sister-in-law of Asad, according to police.
 
The accident occurred when a covered van hit a motorcycle while it was crossing the road divider there at 3:40 pm,” Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shahajan Ali told BSS tonight.

Panna was killed on the spot after falling from the motorcycle while her brother-in-law Asadul Islam Asad at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
 
Tanima is the daughter of Tariqul Islam Pappu of Binodpur area and Asadul is the son of freedom fighter Ansar Ali of Balapara area of Rangpur city. 
 
The bodies were kept in the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue. 
 
Later, police arrested Saddam Hossain, 25, the covered van driver. A case was filed in this connection.
