IRI delegation meets Jamaat leaders

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - A three-member delegation from the US-based International Republican Institute (IRI) today met leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the party’s central office in the city’s Moghbazar area.

During the meeting, the IRI delegation focused on Bangladesh’s political landscape following the 2024 mass uprising. 

Discussions were also covered the progress of judicial proceedings, ongoing state reforms and holding a free, fair and inclusive elections.

The IRI delegation included Asia Pacific Director Stephen Cima, Deputy Director Matthew Carter and Senior Program Manager Amitabh Ghosh.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr Syed Abdullah Md Taher, Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, and Central Working Committee Member Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar were present on behalf of the party.
