Three-day fruit fair begins in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day fruit fair began in the district from today with the theme of "Eat more local fruits, let's plant fruit trees".

Deputy Commissioner of the district Fouzia Khan formally inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon at the premises of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) here at 10am.

After the inauguration, the attending guests visited different stalls of the fruit fair and expressed their interest in various local and exotic fruits which were showcased in the fair.
 
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the hall room of the district DAE with its Deputy Director Dr M Sadikur Rahman in the chair.

Additional Police Super of the district Mukit Sarker attended the function as the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner Mizabe Rahmat also spoke it as special guest.

A total of 13 upazila agriculture offices and horticulture centers have also participated in the fruit fair.

Different local and exotic fruit varieties like Jackfruit, Black Berry, Pineapple, 'Burmese grape (lotkon), Dragon fruit, Amloki, Malta, Wood Apple, Banana, Guava, Pomelo, Dewya, Palmyra palm and different seasonal fruits were showcased in eight different fruit stalls at the fair.

The fruit fair will conclude on June 27.

Additionally, the organising authority is carrying out different awareness campaigns at the fair for raising peoples' interest in fruit cultivation.
