He made the remarks at the fourth quarterly meeting of the Khulna Divisional Committee on the prevention of child marriage was held today in the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner.

While presiding over the meeting, the Additional Divisional Commissioner said, "Child marriage is a social ailment. It pushes our young children
toward an uncertain future."

He stressed the need to protect children from this threat.

However, it is also the responsibility of parents to spend more time with their children, ensure they do not become addicted to digital devices, gift them good books, and promote a positive mindset for healthy mental growth.

Regular courtyard meetings should be organised under the initiative of the Department of Women's Affairs to raise awareness against child marriage, Debprasad Pal said.

"These meetings should highlight the problems associated with child marriage and the relevant legal aspects. Even small videos can be used to sensitize parents about the harmful consequences of early marriage," he added.

The Additional Divisional Commissioner emphasized the need for a change in the mindset and thinking of parents so that their children can complete their education and contribute to the nation-building process.

He also stated that along with Khulna district, the deputy commissioners of other districts in the Khulna Division must intensify awareness campaigns to curb child marriage.
