Snakebite kills girl in Jashore

JASHORE, June 26, 2025 (BSS) - A school girl died from snakebite at Bakra Mathpara village under Jhikargacha upazila of the district early this morning.

The deceased was Sumaiya Khatun, 11, a second-grade student of a local madrasa and daughter of Imdadul Haque of the village.

According to family sources, a snake bit Sumaiya and her mother, Khadija Khatun, 32, while they were sleeping on the floor of their house around 1am.

They were rushed to Jashore General Hospital around 4am, where Sumaiya died around 7am while undergoing treatment.

Her mother Khadija is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Jashore General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Md. Hussain Shafayat confirmed the incident.
