BOGURA, July 5, 2025 (BSS) - The family of slain Jubo Dal activist Imran Sheikh, who was killed in a brutal attack in 2013, continues to receive monthly financial assistance under the directive of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, party sources confirmed.

Imran Sheikh, 29, was hacked to death on December 2, 2013, in the Chaksutrapur area of Bogura city. The attack was allegedly carried out by a terrorist group led by then-notorious local figure Matin Sarkar.

Imran's elder brother, Hilu Sheikh, 35, was also critically injured in the incident. Since the tragedy, the Sheikh family has struggled to recover from both emotional and financial hardship.

Imran's daughter, Maryam Akhter Meem, is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies in Bengali at Bogura Women's College, with her educational expenses being covered by Tarique Rahman, according to party sources.

In line with this ongoing support, Bogura District Jubo Dal leaders visited Imran's family again today to provide financial assistance.

The delegation included BNP Chairperson's Adviser and former Member of Parliament Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, Bogura District Jubo Dal President Jahangir Alam, BNP Media Cell's Rajshahi-Rangpur Divisional Coordinator and Bogura Press Club General Secretary Kalam Azad, District Jubo Dal General Secretary Abu Hasan and other local leaders and activists.

Party representatives reiterated their commitment to standing by the family and ensuring that the daughter of the late activist can continue her education without interruption.
