Husband held in Brahmanbaria for killing wife

DHAKA, July 7, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested an individual from Brahmanbaria district for his suspected involvement in killing his wife in their rented house in the capital's Bhatara area two days ago. 
   
A team of Bhatara Police Station in a raid at Sonamura area of Bijoynagar Police Station in Brahmanbaria district arrested Kamruzzaman, 30, around 3.30 am today for his alleged link to killing his wife Tamanna Akhter in the capital's Bhatara area on July 5, said a police press release. 
 
Bhatara police earlier on July 5 last recovered the body of an unidentified young woman in the east unit of the 4th floor of a 6-story building in the Khilbarirtek area under Bhatara Police Station after receiving the information through the National Emergency Service 999. 
 
In this incident, the victim's mother, Mosha Ambia Khatun, filed a murder case with Bhatara Police Station as the plaintiff.

During initial interrogation it was revealed that Tamanna Akhter and Kamruzzaman got married about three years ago. After marriage, they worked in garment factories in different areas of Gazipur and Dhaka and raised their family. 
 
On July 4, 2025, they moved into the 4th floor of a 6-story building in the Khilbarirtek area under Bhatara police station as tenants. 
 
On the same day, Kamruzzaman strangled his wife Tamanna Akhter to death. After the murder, he fled the scene.
