Madrasa student dies from snakebite in Magura

Magura, July 14, 2025 (BSS): A madrasa student has tragically died from snakebite in Datiadah village under Mohammadpur upazila in Magura district yesterday night. 

The victim was identified as Jakia Lamima,13, a seventh-grade student at Babukhali Adarsha Dakhil Madrasa, daughter of Mamun Sheikh of the village.

According to local sources, the incident occurred around 12:00 am. A venomous snake bit her while she was sleeping.

Family members rushed her to the 250-bed Magura Sadar Hospital, but she died on the way around 12:30 am.

The death was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Md. Abdur Rahman.
