LAKSHMIPUR, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - A female student of a local madrasa was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Rakhalia Bazar area of Sadar upazila here this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Maryam Akhter, 14, daughter of Ismail Hossain, a resident of Ward No- 3 of Dalal Bazar union in Sadar upazila and a seventh-grade student of Rakhalia Darul Uloom Mahila Madrasa in Raipur.
The accident took place on the Lakshmipur-Raipur road around 3 pm when a bus of 'Ananda Paribahan' hit three girls while they were crossing the road, leaving Maryam dead on the spot and two of her classmates injured, said Md. Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Police Station.
The injured were rescued and admitted to the Raipur Upazila Health Complex. Later, locals caught the bus driver and handed him over to the police.
