RANGPUR, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Army in a joint operation recovered
27 liters of locally- made liquor and arrested an alleged drug dealer along
with cash from the Nagerhat Sahebganj Bazar area under Badarganj upazila
early today.
Captain Ma'ariz Bin Bashar of Taraganj Army Camp and Badarganj Police Station
Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter to local
reporters on Saturday afternoon.
On a tip off, a regular army patrol team led by Captain Ma'ariz Bin Bashar
and Lieutenant Md Nazmul Hossain Manik of the Army Camp conducted a two-hour-
long operation in Nagerhat Bazar till 2 am today.
The army patrol team conducted combing searches at various locations in the
Nagerhat Sahebganj Bazar areas and arrested Nazrul Islam, 40.
He was selling 27 liters of domestically produced liquor filled with 160
pieces of speed bottles in two sacks.
During the operation, Taka 1,66,900 in cash and four button mobile phones
were also seized from his possession.
Arrested Nazrul Islam, 40, is the son of Fazal Uddin of Chak Durgapur
Dularhat village under Mithapukur Police Station of Rangpur.
Later, he was handed over to Badarganj Police Station after initial
interrogation by the army.
A drug case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act of
2018.
"There is another drug case against Nazrul Islam. He was sent to Rangpur Jail
when he was produced before a Rangpur court this afternoon," the OC added.
