Missing fisherman's body recovered from Tentulia river in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - The body of a missing fisherman who fell from a trawler in the Tentulia river in Bauphal upazila of the district on Friday was recovered this morning from Kalaiya Khalgora char of the upazila.

The deceased was Imran Sharif, 22, son of Monir Sharif of Char Raisaheb village in Chandradwip union of the upazila. 

Imran went missing after falling from a fishing trawler due to storm in Kachua area of the Tentulia river around 2 pm on Friday. 

From Friday afternoon, the fire service diving team, naval police and local fishermen started joint operation in the Tentulia River. However, no trace of him could be found. 

Sub-Inspector Abu Bakar Siddique of Kalaiya Naval Police Outpost said after receiving the information, the Naval Police and Fire Service divers conducted multiple rescue operations but failed to recover the body.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the char area today, he said.
