4 ex-officials sentenced to one-month jail in contempt of court case

HABIGANJ, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced former Habiganj deputy commissioner Md. Ataur Rahman, former additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) AKM Aminul Islam and two more ex-officials to one month in prison in a contempt of court lawsuit.

Two other ex-officials are - Sadar upazila assistant commissioner (Land) Md. Shafiul Alam and Baniachong acting assistant commissioner (Land) Noor Alam Siddiqui.

Senior Assistant Judge Court Judge Md. Tarek Aziz gave the verdict on Sunday. 

In 2008, a person named Abdul Hamid filed the contempt of court case against the individuals for not handing over a piece of land to the plaintiff ignoring the court verdict. 

Meanwhile, the defendant's lawyer, Advocate Swaraj Ranjan Biswas, said that they will file an appeal against the verdict.
