KHULNA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Md Zulfikar Ali Haidar on today said that mass awareness is crucial to preventing all kinds of crimes.
He made the remarks at an awareness programme focusing on the prevention of human trafficking, smuggling, unsafe migration, and child marriage, held at Fatema Girls' High School in Khulna city as the chief guest.
Human rights organization Justice and Care organized the event.
The KMP Commissioner said preventing crimes like human trafficking, ensuring safe migration, and tackling child marriages are not easy tasks. However, raising awareness at the grassroots level, particularly through school and college teachers, can play a significant role in addressing these issues.
He mentioned that innocent individuals from various parts of the country are often lured abroad with false promises of good jobs, modeling opportunities, or marriage.
"When victims realize they have been trafficked, it is often too late-especially if they were taken without proper travel documents, making rescue and identification extremely difficult," he added.
Addressing teachers, he emphasized that their efforts to raise awareness could help many students avoid falling victim to such deception. On behalf of the KMP, he affirmed their commitment to taking active measures against human trafficking and child marriage.
Officials from Justice and Care, school teachers, students, among others, were present.
