10 shops gutted in Lakshmipur fire

LAKSHMIPUR, July 29, 2025 (BSS) - At least ten shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in the Old Tewariganj area under Sadar upazila of the district early this morning.

The fire originated from an electrical short circuit in a shop and soon engulfed adjacent establishments, said Ranjit Kumar Saha, Station Officer of Lakshmipur Fire Service.

On information, a unit from Lakshmipur Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after one hour of effort, he added.

The gutted shops included pharmacies, grocery stores, and clothing outlets.

Although the exact extent of the damage is yet to be determined through investigation, shop owners have initially estimated the loss at around Taka one crore.
