BHOLA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - Launch services on ten internal routes under Bhola district have been suspended following the hoisting of cautionary signal number three at four sea ports across the country and cautionary signal number one at the river port.

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) issued the directive today.

The suspended routes include Bhola-Lakshmipur, Dowlatkhan-Alekjander, Mirzakalu-Alekjander, Betua-Dhaka, Tajumuddin-Manpura, Betua-Manpura, Hatiya-Dhaka, Tajumuddin-Char Jahiruddin, and Hakimuddin-Manpura-Char Jahiruddin.

Due to the weather warnings at sea and river ports, launch services on these internal routes have been suspended as a precaution, said Riad Hossen, Assistant Director of Bhola River Port (BIWTA).

He added that the suspension will remain in effect until further notice. However, launch services on other routes, including Bhola-Dhaka and Bhola-Barishal, continue to operate normally.

The suspension has caused severe inconvenience to passengers, many of whom have had to return without reaching their destinations.

Meanwhile, traffic movement is also being hampered as the ilisha ferry ghat has been submerged due to rising river water levels.

The Bhola meteorological department reported 43 millimeters of rainfall in the last 24 hours across the district.
