MUNSHIGANJ, Aug 1, 2025 (BSS) - A constable was killed after being struck by a passenger bus while riding a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the Baluakandi area of Gazaria upazila in the district early today.
The victim was identified as Zilu Mia, 42, son of Ahid Miah of Nayakandi village under Imampur union of Gazaria upazila in the district. He was serving at the Narayanganj Superintendent of Police's office.
According to Md Shawkat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhaberchar Highway Police Station, the accident occurred around 9am when an unidentified passenger bus hit Zilu Mia's motorcycle from behind, causing him to fall onto the highway.
He was rushed to Bhaberchar Health Complex in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The driver of the bus fled the scene, and efforts are underway to identify and locate the vehicle, police said.
