Rapist of visually impaired woman held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the accused in the rape of a visually impaired woman from the Keranirhat area under Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur city.

The detainee is Md Mintu Mia, 40, son of Kaful Uddin of the Rajendrapur (Kanpara) area under Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur city.

On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13’s Sadar Company conducted a raid in the Keranirhat area of Rangpur city and arrested the absconding accused, Md Mintu Mia, at 8:15 pm on Saturday, said a press release issued here tonight.

The arrested accused was handed over to Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police today.

The arrested accused, Md Mintu Mia, is a Kaviraj by profession. He used to visit the victim's house in the nearby area from time to time to treat the visually impaired woman.

Mintu went to the victim's house, threatened the victim in various ways, and raped her on July 1, 2025.

Later, the victim filed a rape case with Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station in Rangpur city on August 8, 2025.
